Investing in a new heating and cooling system for your New Jersey home means you’ll have peace of mind knowing you’ll have an energy-efficient system to help keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

Below are some questions you may have, before your installation day.

Do I need to get permits?
NJR Home Services will apply for all necessary permits prior to your heating and cooling system installation. You are responsible for any permit fees and scheduling the final inspection.

When will NJR Home Services arrive?
We will contact you the day before your installation with a time frame. Upon arrival the installation team will discuss the details of your installation and payment prior to beginning the work.

Do I need to clean the work area?
Yes, the area should be cleaned prior to the installation. Safe access to all work areas including attics, crawl spaces and basements is required.

What if I need to reschedule my installation?|
To reschedule, you can call our customer service department at 877-466-3657.

On your installation day, the NJR Home Services installation team will arrive on time and treat your home as if it is their own. They will efficiently remove any existing equipment, and expertly install your new equipment. We will clean up the work area, as well.

Below are some questions you may have during your installation.

How can I identify your employees?
The NJR Home Services installation team will arrive in a clearly marked company vehicle. They will be in uniform and wearing company ID.

How long will the installation take?
Most installations of a single unit/system will take between 1 – 1½ days. Installation of multiple systems takes at least 1½ days or longer.

Can I leave my home during the installation?
An adult must be present to let the installation crew into the premises. Once they are in your home and have reviewed the job, you can leave. Simply let the installer know you are leaving and how we can reach you if necessary. Payment must be made and all paperwork completed and signed before you leave.

Can I run my heating or cooling system during the installation?
No. We will disconnect your old systems within the first hour of arrival.

Will you put drop cloths down?
Yes.

Will I need to clean up after the installation?
No. We will clean the work area prior to leaving your home.

Below are some questions you may have once your installation is complete.

Who will collect the final payment?
When the work is completed the installation team will collect the payment if it has not been made. They will accept a check or credit card.

Will the equipment work when you are done?
Yes, when your installation is completed all equipment will be ready to use. The installation team will test your systems to make sure they are working properly before they leave your home. They will explain how your new systems work and how to use them and answer any questions you may have. Most manufacturers coat furnaces with oil to prevent rust during storage. Upon initial start-up, hot-air furnaces may emit some smoke due to the oil burn off. The smoke is non-toxic and will only last a few minutes.

Does the work need to be inspected by my town?
Yes. When the job has been completed and you have received your permit packet you will need call your township to schedule a final inspection.
