Plumbing Tips

Plumbing is something we all use and rely on. From bathrooms to kitchens, ensuring your plumbing is running smoothly and efficiently is important. Learn to spot small plumbing problems with these simple tips:

  • Keep an eye out for leaks and repair them promptly. Small leaks can lead to big problems. Leaking faucets, damp cabinets and rocking toilets signal problems that may need prompt attention.
  • Know where your main water shut-off valve is located in case of a leak. If it's in a dark, hidden or hard-to-reach place, gather any tools you'll need — like a flashlight and shut-off key — and store them nearby.
  • Know the age of your water heater. The first four numbers of the serial number on the water heater are the month and year it was manufactured. If it’s more than ten years old, it may be time to replace your water heater. Visit our tip page, Signs Your Water Heater Needs Replacement, for more information.
  • When cold weather strikes, go into action. Open the cabinets beneath sinks and bathroom fixtures; warmer household air can help prevent pipes inside from freezing. Opening taps to a bare trickle keeps water flowing and helps prevent a frozen blockage.

Quick question: how old is your water heater? If you're not sure of the answer it may be time to replace it. For a free no-obligation quote, fill out the request a quote form or call 877-466-3657.
