In New Jersey, a home's heating system is its biggest energy user, so it's important to have an efficient, affordable and dependable system. For this reason, more people use natural gas heating systems than other options. Natural gas can heat your house by creating warm air, hot water or steam.

The energy efficiency of every home heating system is measured in "Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency" (AFUE). This is the ratio between the quantity of energy that enters into the system and the quantity of energy that is released as usable heat. AFUE takes into account heat loses during start-up and cool-down, and also the unit’s efficiency while it’s running . Natural gas furnaces that are older have AFUEs lower than 65%, but New Jersey Home Service’s natural gas systems have AFUE ratings of 90%.
